Secateurs at the ready; come and learn how to prune vines. Pruning vines properly is vital! It gives them the ability to produce high quality grapes for winemaking.

During an enjoyable morning we teach you the important role pruning vines plays in ensuring grape growth is robust. You'll learn how its done, with full instruction on the 'double guyot' pruning system and spur pruning, with the chance to prune vines in five acres of English vineyard. You're pruning will effect this year's vintage!

Your sumptuous two-course lunch with a glass of Rampant Horse* is served at Sissinghurst's award-winning village pub, The Milk House.

Your vineyard experience:

  • Arrive at the Vineyard at 9.30am for a showround and introduction to the vineyard, its grape varieties and our wine*
  • Group vine pruning tutorial
  • Personal vine pruning instruction
  • Refreshments (tea and coffee)
  • Prune vines in then vineyard
  • English wine tasting among the vines
  • Take cutting to grow at home (we'll provide instructions)
  • 1.00pm leave the vineyard and head for nearby Sissinghurst village for a delicious two course lunch with a glass of Rampant Horse* at The Milk House (for one)

The Milk House

Situated in picturesque Sissinghurst, The Milk House is a village pub at the heart of the community. Every day the bar welcomes loyal locals, along with visitors from further afield, offering cask ales from Kentish breweries and a wide selection of wines that include offerings from the area's renowned vineyards.

Dining at The Milk House

The Milk House offers a range of classic pub fare as well as a seasonal Dining Menu. A light Grazing Menu is available all day, while the terrace is home to a wood-fired pizza oven. On Sunday there's a choice of delicious roasts and there are wholesome choices for children too, all prepared with fresh local ingredients!


*Rampant Horse is subject to availability, an alternative may be offered. Suitable non-alcoholic alternatives are also available.
